Ecological overshoot? The German bank is noticing the warning signs...

It's time to think about the drastic change to everyday life for everyone that is on the horizon due to human overpopulation and ecological overshoot.

In the 1950s the number of humans on Earth reached upwards of 3 billion, up from about 1.5 billion in the 1850s, and 750 million in the 1750s. Today the human family is almost 7 billion strong.

The more we grow, the larger our total biomass as a species (i.e. mass of a human body multiplied by 7 billion) grows, the more of the Earth's diversity is morphed into human biomass, which means the mass of remaining diversity is contracting in size and variety, meaning entire ecosystems are about to contract and die, or become unproductive, perhaps labelled as ecological debt, such as in the example of the Tar Sands in Alberta, Canada.

Food security is the message of our time. Non-violent population reduction should be expected and planned for. Localized agricultural production and consumption and wild lifestyles should be the focus of our education.
